About 20 years ago, I wandered into Canyon Ranch - a dreamy health resort tucked into the Berkshire Mountains - and left with more than just a souvenir water bottle. I was hooked. Think mind-body-spirit reboot (minus the woo-woo...okay, maybe a crystal or two snuck in).
That trip lit a spark. For the first time, I saw how small changes in what I ate, how I moved, how I breathed could shift everything.
Over the years, some habits stuck. Others ghosted me like a bad diet trend (depending how chaotic life was at the time).
But that's where the mix comes in - experimenting, evolving and figuring out what worked for that version of me.
Then midlife hit...and everything I thought I had figured out suddently went flying out the window. The workouts that once kept me energized? Now left me wiped. My jeans got tighter, my face got puffier, and sleep? Ha - that became more of a suggestion than a reality.
Some days I felt like I was walking through a fog - mentally, physically and emotionally. It wasn't just aging; it was a whole new operating system I hadn't signed up for.
But I wasn't about to just accept this version of myself flinging itself upon me. So, I rolled up my (increasingly snug) sleeves and did what any overwhelmed, slightly puffy, tired-but-determined woman would do - I dove into every rabbit hole.
Articles. Studies. Podcasts. Books. Blogs. Tik Toks. I wanted to know what the heck was going on - and what could be done about it.
What I realized - honestly? I'd know it all along. You can feel great in midlife... but only if you're willing to switch things up. What worked in our 30's doesn't always cut it now. (Rude, right?)
Eventually, I stopped looking for the "perfect" plan and started building my own - taking pieces from what I'd found. Weight started dropping, energy picked up and my brain felt like it had rebooted.
And that's why I started this blog.
Not because I have it all figured out - I definitely don't - but because sharing what might help is better than pretending we're all fine and sleeping like babies. We're not. But we can feel better, laugh through the weird parts and create your own midlife mix that actuallly works.
Hot flashes. Brain Fog. Mood swings that deserve their own theme music. Midlife isn't for the faint of heart - but it can be full of fun, wellness wins, and that glow-up you didn't see coming. Dive into the mix.
